When asked about the rumors, Smit expressed his pride at being considered for such big clubs. He told a Dutch newspaper that he had noticed his name appearing frequently on social media.
"I should have been on the radar of Real Madrid and Barcelona," he said. "It made me proud. I want to make the biggest leap possible and reach the top as soon as I can."
Smit also mentioned that he occasionally discusses his ambitions with his family. While he remains focused on performing well with AZ, he is open to exploring new opportunities in the future.
