"There's been a lot of attention on goalkeepers in recent years," Lammens said. "They've received a lot of negative comments. I'm not worried about that. My dream is to play for United for the next ten years, be important to the club, and build a legacy. That's a long-term goal."

"When things go badly, you're immediately criticized," he said. "And when things go well, you're praised. I'm not really concerned with what others say about me. I'm focused on my own performance."

Lammens acknowledged that his debut against Sunderland was an important moment for him. He felt a need to make a good impression and did so by radiating calmness during the game. Fans compared him to legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, but Lammens knows he has a long way to go before he's mentioned alongside him.

"It was great to hear the supporters sing that to me," he said. "It's a huge compliment, especially after my first match. But I'm not getting too carried away with their enthusiasm. I still have a lot to prove."
