Since then, he has played a limited amount of minutes, featuring in just 10 Premier League games and starting none of them.
Ince, who played for Manchester United, believes that Mainoo needs to take action to increase his chances of being chosen for the World Cup team.
"If I were in Mainoo's position, I'd be looking for a change of club in January," Ince said in an interview.
He thinks that leaving Manchester United, either permanently or on loan, would be the best way for Mainoo to secure a spot in the England squad.
Ince also reflected on Mainoo's initial rise to prominence, saying that something has gone wrong since he first started playing well for Manchester United and earning minutes for the England team.
Ince is unsure whether the issue lies with the player or the manager, Ruben Amorim, but he believes that Mainoo's career has not been easy.
