Guiu joined Chelsea a year ago after leaving Barcelona, where he had rejected new contract terms.

During his first season at Chelsea, he scored six goals in 16 matches.

Guiu was also considered by relegated Ipswich Town, but chose to join Sunderland for a season in the Premier League.
