Guiu signed with Chelsea a year ago, after turning down a new contract offer from his previous team, Barcelona.

During his first season at Chelsea, Guiu scored six goals in 16 matches.

He also received interest from Ipswich Town, but preferred to play in the Premier League, which is why he chose Sunderland this week.
