After defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening match, City were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion in their next two fixtures. Doku suggested that the team needs to show more mental fortitude, saying, "Things aren't going very well. After the first match, everyone felt good, but after that, things got more difficult."
Doku believes that the team is letting their heads drop when they concede a goal. He emphasized the need for mental strength, saying, "Mentally, we need to be stronger."
It's worth noting that City may not have had a decent break, having competed at the Club World Cup in the United States in June. Doku mentioned that he only started training again on July 28th, after a brief break, and that the team barely had any pre-season.
Doku also reflected on his personal performance, saying that he hasn't started the season well and is not yet in his best form. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to play with the Belgium national team, where he's reunited with former clubmate Kevin De Bruyne.
Doku and De Bruyne are set to face each other in the Champions League soon, and Doku humorously quipped, "May the best man win then!"
The Belgium squad, including Doku, will play two World Cup qualifiers this week, against Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan.
