In an interview with a local radio station, Mendes emphasized that he doesn't feel any pressure to live up to his father's legacy.
"I've always been clear in my mind that I'm my own person, and he's his own person," Mendes said.
He also mentioned that his family advises him to ignore any external noise and focus on his own happiness.
Mendes missed the preseason at Burnley and is now working hard to earn a spot on Hull City's first team.
"My main objective is to make it to the first team," he said.
He is also working on improving his fitness level, which was not at the desired standard when he joined Hull City.
Mendes has a 12-month contract with the club and is receiving guidance from the coaches to help him achieve his goals.
