The move follows a rejected bid from Chelsea last week, which prompted Arsenal to make their own approach to Ajax to negotiate a transfer fee.
However, it seems Hato has now accepted Chelsea's contract offer and is waiting for the two clubs to agree on a transfer fee.
Chelsea initially offered €40m for Hato's services, but Ajax made it clear they would not consider selling him for less than €55-60m.
